A parallel passion to singing for Dr. Cassie Glaeser is teaching, which she has enjoyed doing for the past fifteen years. In her private studio, she teaches voice and beginning piano both in-person and online. Prior to her appointment at ENMU, Dr. Glaeser joined the faculty at her alma mater, Lawrence University, as a Lecturer of Music in Voice.
Dr. Glaeser’s teaching methods are centered in the bel canto vocal technique and mind-body kinesthetic awareness through Alexander and Feldenkrais techniques. In her studio, she prioritizes a pedagogy that is trauma-informed, gender-affirming, body-positive, and driven by the goals of each individual student. Dr. Glaeser is passionate about amplifying the voices of marginalized and underrepresented women, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and Latinx composers of art song and opera through her research and performance. Her dissertation on nineteenth-century French composer Augusta Holmes explored the composer's life and art songs on war/politics and feminine love/sexuality through a feminist musicology lens. Within her applied voice studio, she prioritizes programming repertoire from these composers and encourages her students to connect to their own heritage and culture through their diverse repertoire choices.
In the short time I’ve studied with Dr. Glaeser, my voice has grown more than I can explain. I feel stronger, more confident, and truly supported. She believed in me before I fully believed in myself...and that changed everything.
Seeing her actively performing while teaching showed me that the life I want is actually possible.
One of my fondest memories of Dr. Glaeser was during the first week of the school year. I had asked her for advice about performance anxiety, and that same night, she sent me three different articles. The articles were super helpful, and ever since then, I have been asking Dr. Glaeser for advice when needed. Dr. Glaeser has believed in me and encouraged me to be the best musician and performer I can be.
Dr. Glaeser has extensive training in classical, operatic, musical theater, pop and contemporary vocal styles as well as focused studies in piano for beginners including music theory and ear training instruction. She is passionate about making her private and group music lessons a fun and safe space for her students to learn and she enjoys teaching students of all ages and levels of development.
In just six months of studying with Dr. Glaeser, I have blossomed more than I can explain. I didn’t just “get better.” I really found my voice. I learned real things not just tricks, not surface-level corrections, but deep, honest work that taught me how my voice actually functions and how to trust it. For the first time, I stopped feeling like I was pretending to be a singer and started believing that I am one.
As our lessons went on, I noticed how easy it became to sing and how comfortable I felt performing. I felt completely and utterly supported through my vocal journey, and it felt
like she knew my voice so well. If I feel weird about singing a certain exercise, she sings it with me. She has taught me so much about being conscious of what my voice is feeling and doing. Instead of forcing vibrato or high notes, I now have developed the ability to do both of those things with what Dr. Glaeser has helped me achieve.
Along with her private studio, Dr. Glaeser taught with Stafford Music Academy in Bloomington, IN, and Dynamic Music, LLC in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago, IL. She was also a teaching assistant in voice and opera workshop at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Dr. Glaeser is a proud member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the College Music Society, the National Association for Music Education, the National Opera Association, Opera America, and the Society for American Music.
Dr. Glaeser is my voice professor, and she is such a fantastic voice teacher and has helped me with countless things, not just vocally but mentally, as in stage fright, no judgment, venting to someone, just being there for support, etc. Most importantly, she has taught me that every day is different and I can’t control how “my best” sounds, so I shouldn’t be hard on myself, which I have a hard time doing. Dr. Glaeser she sees my potential.
I have been a voice student of Dr. Glaeser’s since my middle 70’s and am now 82 years old and am still working with her. The experience has been delightful. She is wonderfully patient and tries in a variety of ways to get through to me. She has mastered the art of a good teacher in that she encourages yet supplies the needed corrections. Also importantly she tolerates my approach to singing, which is not to take my singing too seriously but rather to simply enjoy getting better at it. I still work and have no intention of giving up my day job.
I enjoy having Miss Cassie as my piano teacher because she is super kind, supportive, and has been helping me to grow my piano skills for going on four years. I have also really enjoyed practicing some really fun songs, using all of the amazing feedback she has given me. I love having Miss Cassie as my teacher and I am so glad to keep learning with her help!
Dr. Glaeser taught my Diction II class in her first semester at Eastern New Mexico University. I felt encouraged by her commitment to preparation and teaching. She is clearly committed to teaching and preparing us for the future. She is clear, organized, and her positive energy resonated with me and my fellow students. She listened to each student and focused on areas that students needed extra help in. Her goal is for all to be confident applying our knowledge in and outside of the classroom. I was a tutor for her second semester Diction class at ENMU and have grown into a confident and reliable resource for students.
As a parent, I have had the privilege of watching my daughter grow within the vocal program at ENMU over the past several years, and I can say without hesitation that the transformation I’ve witnessed since working with Dr. Cassie Glaeser has been extraordinary.
What stands out most is the level of trust, confidence, and self-belief she cultivates in her students.
Students who were once hesitant to perform now walk on stage with composure and ownership. I watched young singers who had previously struggled with confidence step fully into their voices, supported by a teacher who clearly sees them, believes in them, and knows how to bring out their best.
Dr. Glaeser’s approach goes far beyond technique. She creates a space where students feel safe, supported, and empowered, and that shows in every performance. The growth is not subtle. It is visible, emotional, and deeply impactful.
As a parent, there is nothing more meaningful than seeing your child not only improve, but truly come alive in their craft. That is exactly what Dr. Glaeser makes possible.
